Amy Butler's Nigella Yoga Mat Bag

First of all let me say that this is one of Amy Butler's Free Patterns. You can find it on her website.

The pattern is straight forward and super easy to put together. The curved bottom is a little tricky if it's the first time you have done curved seams, but overall this bag can be made in a few hours.

I used Tula Pink's fabric line Prince Charming in Olive for the two made fabrics, I used Anna Maria Hornor's Sinister Swarm in Blueberry for the strap, and I used Patty Young's Flora & Fauna for the bottom. The lining is Water Bouquet from Amy Butler's Love line.

The only thing I would change about this bag is the width of the strap. I think I would like it better if it were about half of its size. I just love how well it matches my mat!

Namaste!

Cosmo Bag

This is 3rd Cosmo Bag that I have made from Amy Butler's Style Stitches. I think it's safe to say I like the pattern. This time I used fabrics from one of Tula Pink's newer lines "Nightshade". I used the colorway Vapor, but I think it would be quite fantastic in any of the colors.

For the front of the bag I used Scarlett Von Black, and for the back I used Bella Donna Von Black.

For the exterior contrasting fabric I used Spider Blossoms and just and just a touch of Storm Clouds in Absinthe to be the lining of the pockets.

I lined the bag in Apothecary. The more I look at this print, the more I love it! I will definitely be picking up some more of this fabric!

I also decided to use a magnetic snap on this bag as opposed to a button closure. It seems to work much better, especially since I never bother to button the other one anyway.

As you can see I already transferred my necessities into my bag. I will be using this one a LOT!

Perfectly Pleated Clutch

A few days ago I made the Perfectly Pleated Clutch from Amy Butler's Style Stitches.Yes, I am hooked on that book. I will probably end up making most if not all of the patterns from that book. This is the 4th pattern I have completed from the book

I used 2 fabrics from Amy's Lotus line. The main fabric is Star Paisley in Sand, and the contrast is Lotus Pond in Ivory.

I didn't pleat the back because I used stashed fabrics and there just wasn't enough fabric for that, but I quite like it only pleated on the front.

I'm not so sure that I adore the wristlet. While it is completely functional, it's awkward to use. I guess if you get tired of holding the clutch it would be a nice afterthought.

The interior is the perfect size for all my essentials. I used a batik with wasps. It was a gift from a wonderful Raveler!

I would recommend this pattern to almost anyone! The pleats take awhile, but the bag overall is supereasy and only takes a few hours! I will definitely be making more of these!

Amy Butler Cosmo Bag

I spent this weekend making the Cosmo bag. I have been wanting to make this bag for about a year, but I wanted to wait until I had just the right fabric. On Friday,  I found some Amy Butler Memento (Love Collection) in Burgundy at an out of the way sewing shop, and I had some small pink polka dot already in stash, as well as the interior by Timeless Treasures.

The thing that took the longest, was cutting it out. I already had my pattern drafted and cut out from awhile back, but it took 2.5 hours just to cut the fabric and interfacing. I was almost cutting the entire time too. There are a TON of pieces in this pattern.

Then it took another 40 minutes to iron all the interfacing to their respective fabric pieces.

I spent around another 5 hours sewing the bag together. I have read a lot of bad reviews of this bag being very hard to make. It is not hard to make. It has a lot of curved seams that have to be pinned before you sew them together, and that takes a lot of time. Easy does not always mean fast.

This bag is HUGE. In addition to all the things that you see in my bag, I can fit my hexipuff bag, laptop, laptop cord, mouse, and a cardigan at the same time. I am super excited that it does! I have needed a bag to drag my laptop around in for awhile and this is perfect!

I even took a pic of myself wearing the bag so you could get an idea of the enormity of it.

I would definitely recommend this bag for someone in between beginner and intermediate. However please be ware that it takes a long while to make. I have about 8 hours in this bag and I have seen reviews for 14 hours and up.

Pouches!

I am really excited about these little pouches! They are my "green" contribution to my sewing. They can all be seen in the shop!

I designed these bags from my leftover bits that I normally wouldn't use. Even the interfacing is scrap! The zippers are Vintage ones that I rescue from estate sales and thrift stores. (you wouldn't believe the collection of zippers I have!)

Some of the bags will coordinate with previous hexipuff bags since they are made from scraps from those bags, but some are from scraps I have had in the bin for awhile that has totally been needing some attention. (like the Amy Butler Daisy Chain below)

All the bags can be seen in the shop!

Hexipuff Handbag

Shop the project bags!

I am so excited about my new design! It has tons of pockets (inside and out!) and it's so easy to carry! This particular fabric is so happy and summery!

I kept the flat bottom of the bag of the original bags. I LOVE this design feature!

I added exterior pockets and handles. The handles have an 8" drop so it's easy to carry on your shoulder.
Also, I added an additional 3 pocket that was divided into 3.

The exterior pockets are the PERFECT place to keep your hexipuffs in progress!

I am hoping to get another made tonight in a brand new fabric! <3

Butterflies, Hummingbirds and ZOMBIE BUNNIES!

Hexipuff project bags that is =]
I love Zombie Bunnies!
I have been sewing much more than I have been knitting lately, which is good for you! I ended up making 3 new bags. My favorite is the little zombie bunnies! So cute, squee!

My second favorite is the Hummingbirds!

The Butterflies are just too sweet!

These bags are fantastic on their own as a wristlet, you don't necessarily need to be a knitter to enjoy them! I am personally using one a quick bag for my wallet, phone and coupon book when I have to go to the grocery store. Perfect!

In other news, EVERYTHING is blooming around here. I hope to take pictures tomorrow! Below are my Azaleas, aren't they nice?

Hexipuff Bags!!!

I just finished adding the beautiful Hexipuff bags to my Etsy shop! I've already sold out of the floral print, but I still have the frogs and hives available!

I am giving away one medium sized hive bag on 2/12, to enter for the drawing reply to this post on Ravelry!

While these are intended to be used while making hexipuffs you can certainly put any little project in there!

Don't know what a Hexipuff is? Go here to find out and to purchase the lovely Beekeeper's Quilt Pattern from Tiny Owl Knits
